Job Description

Electrical Engineer – Data Centre Projects
Amsterdam, Netherlands (On-site)
€75,000 – €90,000 + package

We’re working with a leading engineering contractor delivering large-scale data centre projects across Europe.

They have multiple live sites and a strong pipeline ahead, and are now looking to bring in Electrical Engineers to support delivery on a major project in Amsterdam.

This is a site-based role focused on delivery, coordination, and technical oversight, not design office work.

The Role

You’ll be part of the on-site delivery team, working closely with project and MEP leads to ensure electrical packages are installed, coordinated, and delivered to spec.

Day to day, you’ll be reviewing drawings and identifying design gaps or clashes, raising RFIs and resolving technical queries, managing submittals, procurement tracking, and equipment delivery, carrying out system walk-downs and quality checks, coordinating electrical works with other disciplines and BIM teams, supporting subcontractors on technical issues and site progress, attending site meetings and tracking programme progress, ensuring compliance with HSE and project standards, preparing method statements and risk assessments, troubleshooting issues and driving solutions on site.

What they’re looking for

An Electrical Engineering qualification (degree or equivalent) is required, along with around 5+ years’ experience in an MEP or construction environment. You’ll need strong site experience, as this is a delivery-focused role, and be comfortable dealing with subcontractors and coordinating works. The ability to read drawings, identify issues, and solve problems quickly is important, along with good communication skills and a hands-on approach.

Data centre experience is ideal, but not essential. Candidates from large-scale commercial, industrial or pharma projects will also be considered.

What’s on offer

You’ll be working on major data centre builds across Europe with a strong project pipeline, offering long-term stability rather than a one-off role. There are clear progression opportunities as projects grow, along with a competitive salary and rotation options depending on location.

John Gillen

Director/Recruiter at First Task Professional

"I’ve known John and David for many years. I’ve always found them trustworthy and reliable. They are my first choice when recruiting for vacancies within the business. I would recommend them new potential customers."

Commercial Director, National Building Contractor - Glasgow

John moved from Northern Ireland to Scotland to study at Heriot Watt in 2006, and we have unfortunately been stuck with him ever since! He has been involved in the Scottish Construction Recruitment sector since 2010, having worked for both FTSE listed and locally owned SME agencies before making the move to start First Task Professional with Ronnie Napier, who is the old friend from his university days. He has worked with Building & Civil Engineering Contractors, House Builders and specialist Subcontractors throughout Scotland and placed in excess of 350 staff during his time in recruitment from Site Engineers to Managing Directors, and everything in between. For the past 7 years, he has focussed primarily on placing top Commercial, Estimating and Planning talent across the Central Belt

John’s success has always been around keeping things simple and honest; a trait which has seeing clients and candidates alike use him on a repeat basis.
