We are currently working in partnership with a specialist contractor based in Falkirk who are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their growing commercial team.
Our client operates within a niche construction sector and delivers projects across a wide range of values, working with developers, main contractors, and private clients. They are particularly keen to speak with candidates who have a timber kit / timber frame estimating background, although strong estimating experience from similar specialist construction environments will also be considered.
The Role
As Estimator, you will play a key role in the pre-construction process, responsible for pricing projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission. You’ll work closely with internal design, production, and commercial teams to ensure accurate and competitive costings.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
- Carrying out quantity take-offs and pricing of materials and labour
- Producing Bills of Materials and pricing schedules
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and client requirements
- Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing
- Supporting value engineering and cost optimisation exercises
- Assisting with budgeting and cost forecasting across varied project values
- Working collaboratively with internal teams to meet tender deadlines
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in an Estimator role within construction
- Timber kit / timber frame estimating experience strongly preferred
- Experience pricing projects across a broad range of values, from smaller bespoke works to larger schemes
- Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Confident communicator with internal teams and external stakeholders
